About MeThe plate for this print was made after the Old Bedford had been demolished and so was based upon earlier sketches. The print portrays spectators in the gallery of the music hall. The very dark, painting-like areas of shadow and those of light play an important role in conjuring up the strident light and exciting atmosphere of the music hall.More About Me
Sickert used his love of music halls and variety theatres to capture "life". This one was in London's Camden Town.
