About MeThe Old Bedford was one of Sickert's favourite haunts; it is the music hall with which his name is most frequently associated. The artist, William Rothenstein described how Sickert would go there every night "to watch the light effects on stage and boxes, on pit and gallery, making tiny studies on scraps of paper with enduring patience and with such fruitful results".In Sickert's first etchings of the Old Bedford Music Hall, executed in the mid 1880s, he depicted the performers on stage; from 1894 onwards, he focused on the audience.
