About MeThis Sketch is signed 'Juana', presumably the gypsy girl's name. She has a large beauty spot on the side of forehead. She is distinctly Spanish with her large dark eyes, heavy eyebrows and thick dark hair. Phillip has paid particular attention to the curls at the side of her head. This style of wearing the hair was very popular amongst the Spanish women and the curls were called Patillas or Picardias and were fastened to the side of the cheek using egg white.
