About MeDavid Michie is the youngest son of the artist Anne Redpath and like her, still life painting has been an important part of his output. Born in San Raphael, France Michie graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1953. He lectured at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and then at Edinburgh, taking up the post of Head of the School of Drawing and Painting from which he retired in 1990.

A disciple of The Edinburgh School, Michie's work is characterised by bright colour and bold shapes. His finished paintings are often composed from studies made abroad and exude a sense of vivacity, revealing the artist's appreciation of Nature's beauty.
