About MeA small, square token displaying initials and date within a broad border. Though very traditional in style it is noteworthy in that it is made of brass rather than the more usual (and probably cheaper) lead or white-metal alloy.

The church at Newmachar, ten miles north of Aberdeen, forms a prominent landmark at the highest point of the village a short distance to the east of the A947 Aberdeen-Banff road. Dating from 1791 the building was extensively renovated in 1913 and is still in use today.

The minister of Newmachar at the time the token was issued was The Rev. Alexander Simpson. He had previously been a schoolmaster at King Edward and Turriff and had written the Statistical Accounts for both those parishes.
