About MeThe maker has combined the use of precious metal with practical design
to form this functional item. The ladle has been raised (hammered up into
shape from a sheet of matt silver) and then chased (where a punch is
used to push the silver into shape), both traditional techniques exploited by
goldsmiths since the 17th century.
More About Me

Chasing involves hammering the front of a piece, thus sinking the metal to create the design. When the hammering is done on the back, the term used is repoussage or repousse work.
