About MeOn 11 October 1832 the sitter, Caroline Lambton, married James Russell of Aden (1797-1875) who was both Deputy Lieutenant and Justice of the Peace for Aberdeenshire.

Mrs Russell wears a black dress with white collar - six 'points' of which are visible, a coral necklace and a white lace indoor cap. Her hair is curled into short ringlets as was the fashion of the day. She was not only a sitter to but also a pupil of Wilson George Washington: also in the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums is a letter from her to Wilson, dated April 13th 1853, in which she is arranging lessons in flower painting. Mrs Russell died in 1864.

More About Me
Wilson was a portrait miniaturist before switching to photography. The sitter was one of his pupils.
