About MeHunter was born in Rothesay in 1877 but in 1892 he moved with his family to California. He was in Paris from 1904-5 when the great Post-Impressionist Exhibition took place. The pictures which he saw there were to have a profound effect on his work which, up till then, had consisted mainly of illustrations for various periodicals and magazines.

Hunter lost almost all of his work as a result of the San Francisco earthquake of April 1906 and this proved to be the final impetus for him to leave California and settle in Europe.

There are no works to discover for this record.
