About MePaul Lawrie, a New Year baby, was born in Aberdeen in 1969. He turned professional in 1986 at the age of 17. Ten years later he won his first tour competition in Catalunya, and came a respectable 6th in the British Open. Three years later in 1999 he won the Qatar Masters one of the major golf tour events, having recovered from a 10 shot deficit. He also that year went on to win the British Open at Carnoustie.

Since then he has won a number of competitions including the Wales Open, the Open de Andalucia de Golf, Johnny Walker Championship, and the Quatar masters in 2012 for a second time. He was part ofthe winning European Team for Ryder Cup in 2012 where he hit a hole in one. He was also vice captain of the European Team in 2016 and 2020.

In 2001 he founded the Paul Lawrie foundation to promote interest in golf among the upcoming youth players. It has since widened its scope into soccer and hockey.

He was awarded an OBE in 2000 and an MBE in 2013.

He retired from the European Tour in 2020.
