Hannah Miley

Swindon, England, born 1989
About MeHannah Miley was born in Swindon, Wiltshire although soon after she was born her father's work as a helicopter pilot took the family to Aberdeenshire. She started swimming at a young age in Aviemore and became a member of her local swimming club Garioch ASC at Inverurie and quickly showed her ability.

Unlike most of the elite athletes of her cohort she was coached by her father who was an amateur coach at the time. After leaving school she studied at Aberdeen University which she represented at various swimming competitions.

Miley was selected to compete with the GB team at both the 2008 and 2012 summer Olympic Games in her favourite individual medley event coming just out of the medal rankings. However the same year Hannah became the World and European short course champion for the 400m individual medley.

She has won gold medals representing Scotland at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, Silver medal at the 2011 World Championships, Gold and two Bronze medals at the 2010 European Championships Silver and Bronze medals in 2016.

Miley made her Arena Pro Swim Series debut in February 2015, winning gold in the 200 m freestyle and 400 m individual medley. She added a further two medals in March 2017, including gold in her strongest event.

In 2018 she won a silver in the 400m individual medley at the Commonwealth Games in Australia and a Bronze at the European championships the same year.

In all she holds over 50 championship medals and still retains the British record time for the 400m individual medley.
