About MeWillie Miller was born in Bridgeton in Glasgow. After playing for a number of schoolboy clubs he signed for Aberdeen in 1971, although he passed his first year as a professional with Peterhead when Aberdeen lent him to the club. From 1972 until he retired as a professional player in 1990 he remained at Aberdeen. In 1975 he was made team captain.

As a club player he was part of sides that won Scottish League titles, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup. His highlight as a club player was captaining Aberdeen at the 1983 European Cup Winners Cup final in Gothenburg where Aberdeen became champions.

He was also a member of the Scottish National mens team and played for his country 65 times including at World Cup finals.

He returned to Aberdeen as manager in 1992 and later became Director of Football Development. He is also a regular pundit on the BBC.
