DescriptionA trial trenching evaluation was carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological unit in March 2009 on playing fields ahead of development for the Fisheries Research Centre. Four trenches were excavated, but apart from stone lined and modern ceramic field drains, no archaeological features were recorded. A single piece of flint was recovered from the topsoil, but this may have been introduced to the site when the levels were raised. A 1911 George V commemoration token in a case was also recovered from the topsoil.
