Wapping Street Gyratory

E91
DescriptionTrial trenching evaluation was carried out by ACC Archaeological Unit in April to June 2008 during removal of an electricity sub-station (as the site lay close to the site of the Carmelite Friary). Excavation revealed wall foundations which were the remains of Hadden's factory (NJ90NW0689), which occupied at least part of the site in the 19th and earlier 20th century, but no earlier remains. Monitoring of several trenches dug to relocate electricity cables recorded no significant archaeological features or artefacts.
