DescriptionWILLIAM ALEXANDER 1826 - 1894 WRITER & JOURNALIST LIVED HEREHistoryWriter and Journalist. Born near Pitcaple, Aberdeenshire, he joined the staff of the North of Scotland Gazette, later the Aberdeen Free Press, in 1852 and became editor in 1870. He published novels serially in that newspaper and is remembered as the author of Johnny Gibb of Gushetneuk.
