DescriptionJOHN SMITH 1781 - 1852 FIRST CITY ARCHITECT DESIGNED THIS COLONNADEHistoryArchitect. He trained in Aberdeen and London and became Superintendent of Works (which office later became City Architect) in 1807. He designed St Nicholas Church frontage colonnade and buildings in King Street, often working as both rival to, and in collaboration with, Archibald Simpson.
