About MeFernand Léger's training as a draughtsman undoubtedly influenced his painting style, which is characterised by an architectural clarity. By 1911 he was exhibiting with the Cubists and was one of the most original of the artists on the edge of the Cubist movement.Legér uses a monumental style to depict an arrangement of still life objects, creating a classical sense of balance and harmony. The forms of a barometer, a vase and stencilled lettering (possibly on a book or calendar block), are represented as flat patterns, but juxtaposed to suggest their position in relation to one another.
