In this painting a rich, red blanket slackens about her rounded form, its rich colours and exotic cloth turning her into a sumptuously wrapped gift. McBey had proposed to Frances in the April of 1929, this painting was completed in July of the same year. It was only a month after the painting was completed however that instead of marrying McBey Frances returned to America to marry her fiancé Robert.
