About MeThis set of dolls was made by Jean Cameron in 1969. They were made for a nursing recruitment exhibition in a shop on Union Street. At the time, the shortage of nurses meant 144 beds at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary could not be used.

The dresses are all made using authentic uniform material from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary between 1948 and 1951.

This doll represents a ward maid in a blue checked dress and head band (right foot of doll unstuck).

More About Me

Can you believe that this doll was used to recruit nurses, here in Aberdeen in the early 1970's? This particular doll is a ward maid and the dolls' dresses were made using authentic ARI uniform material.
