About MeThese Chinese embroidered squares are probably the civil rank badge which was worn over the dragon robe on the front and back.

An egret and clouds are outlined by couched gold and silver metal threads on an unlined green silk canvas.

The edges have borders decorated with a scroll and lotus flower pattern. The lotus flower is associated with Buddhism and is a symbol of feminine beauty as well as purity because it rises unsullied from the mud.
