About MeCorrespondence from James McBey to Marguerite McBey, dated 24 April 1935. Attached is an invitation to a luncheon in May and an extremely long newspaper clipping (several clippings stuck together). The letter itself details how McBey feels like "[Marguerite's] mother or Paton", and how he found the "Egyptian statue" "delightful". He asks if Marguerite would like a seat at the Fifty-Fifth Luncheon at Foyles Luncheons in London, on 23 May 1935. Attached is a description of the luncheon.

The newspaper clippings are stuck together, intentionally. One clipping is of a "wedding present", possibly referring to the Dictionary of National Biography, one clipping is of letters relating to the preservation of the English countryside, another clipping is of France and the gold standard, and the final clipping is regarding statues by Epstein to be removed.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
