About MeCorrespondence from James McBey to Marguerite McBey, dated 1 September 1933. Addressed to "Swyti dear" (sweetie dear), and sent from London, McBey writes that he has received her "absurd wire and [her] letter". He says he has had a lazy week. He writes about drawings of "Goodborough", and how they did not seem to turn out well (perhaps, apparently, because of the "bad light", which made McBey nervous). He claims that composing a picture of Goodborough was like "making dirty marks on a pure-white new sail". He suggested to Goodborough to come along and sit for the picture the following morning (he turned up at 8:15!)

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
