About MeWorn at the Langstane Kirk, on Union Street, this veil was made and worn by an Aberdonian bride who was a student at the School of Domestic Science, which was part of the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

This tulle veil with a crown of ivory velvet flowers was worn with an ivory, satin wedding dress. Flower motifs have been machine-embroidered on to the delicate veil.

After 1945, when men started to be discharged from the services, more weddings started taking place. As rationing was still fresh in people's minds, home dressmaking became very popular. Many brides bought their own materials and made their own wedding dresses, which was more economical than buying a ready-made dress.
