About MeGirl's panama hat with a domed crown and slightly upturned brim, worn at Aberdeen High School. The crown is circled by a wine-coloured ribbon with a beige, lilac and pale blue central stripe with a bow on the left hand side. The school crest is prominent at the front of the panama. The golden shield crest is on a navy background and has two registers, the upper one depicts an open golden book between two red towers, situated above a yellow and green tulip in the lower register. The motto "by learning and courtesy" is on a ribbon scroll motif which passes underneath and to either side of the main part of the crest. The hat is held on with a white elastic chin strap.
