About MeDuring the first Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, Paul Nicol embarked on a photographic exploration of the signs he saw in the environment around him in the village of Peterculter near Aberdeen. He walked around the village looking for signs of humans, spirit and the coping mechanisms used during the pandemic.

This photo taken of the empty, closed Richmond arms (Black’s Bar) on a sunny Friday evening during lockdown subtly signifies the huge social impact Covid 19 had on the village. One of the social epicentres of the village, the pub would usually have had customers spilling on to the street enjoying the beer garden and catching up with friends after the working week.
