About MeThis miniature, which was painted in Edinburgh in 1794, depicts, Henry Brougham (pronounced 'Broom') of Brougham Hall in Westmorland. He married Eleanora, daughter of Reverend James Syme and the couple moved to Edinburgh. He was the father of Henry Peter Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux (1778-1868) a British statesman who became Lord Chancellor of the United Kingdom.
More About Me

Brougham was the father of the Lord Chancellor Henry Peter Brougham who steered the 1832 Reform Act and 1833 Abolition of Slavery Act through the British Parliament.
