About MeThis stoneware teapot has a squat body, straight spout and circular cover with central steam hole. It is glazed throughout in a greenish-brown glaze.
The body of the teapot features a sgraffito motif, known as 'Vumé Lily' named after the Vumé Pottery on the Lower Volta River, Ghana. This sgraffito decoration was made by scratching through the surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting colour.
Made by Michael Cardew at his Wenford Bridge Pottery in Cornwall, England after he returned from working in Africa.
