About MeThis small porcelain beaker, or vase, is of a cylindrical form tapering towards the base. Outside it has been glazed in a dark olive green, almost brown, tenmoku glaze and decorated with a prominent raised clay 'slash' which is light rust brown in colour. The interior is glazed in a pale green-blue celadon glaze.

Tenmoku is a Japanese term for a glaze originating in East Asia, which usually is lustrous black or treacle-brown in colour. Celadon also originated in East Asia (China) and is frequently found in shades of pale green. However colours can range from pale pearl blue to dark olive green depending on the quantity of iron oxide added to the glaze before it is fired.
