About MeThe porcelain clay of this slim 'Cloud Pot' has been pinched or squashed by hand close to the rim before firing to create the irregular shape and texture.

The outside is glazed in a pale blue-green celadon becoming almost white at the rim and the interior glazed in dark brown tenmoku. A splash of tenmoku glaze has been added to the hollow created when the clay was squashed to emphasise the form.

Chris Keenan frequently works with celadon and tenmoku glazes in combination to create contrasting colours and surface patterns. In this piece tenmoku is used to enhance the shape.

Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China and spread to other parts of East Asia. Iron oxide is added to create shades of pale green and blue and with the addition of a greater amount of iron oxide, in colours as dark as olive green and black.
