About MePorcelain ovoid vessel with narrow neck and foot which is glazed all over in a pale greeny-blue celadon glaze. It is edged around the rim with a band of a darker green-brown tenmoku glaze with a pattern of sgraffito vertical lines cut through the glaze before firing.Chris Keenan often works with celadon and tenmoku glazes in combination to create subtle surface patterns as seen in this example.
Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China. It is frequently found in shades of pale green, however colours can range from pale pearl blue to dark olive green depending on the quantity of iron oxide added to the glaze before it is fired. Tenmoku is a Japanese term for another glaze originating in East Asia.
