About MeGinner's style changed very little after the Camden Town Group disbanded in 1913. Although this picture is painted in a muted palette, the thick, textured paint recalls Ginner's earlier work. Ginner lived and studied in Paris before moving to London in 1910 so he was well aware of developments in French painting. His early training as an architect may account for his interest in architectural subjects.
More About Me
A lightly atmospheric impression of a lane off Hampstead High Street. Now very trendy and expensive but, happily, still retaining "a largely unreconstructed Victorian boozer" (The Flask)!
