About MeThe sitter, Jean Elmslie Henderson Findlay was born in 1885. She married Andrew Graham Murray, 1st Viscount Dunedin, on 12 July 1923, becoming his second wife. As a result of her marriage, Jean Findlay was styled firstly as Baroness Dunedin and as Viscountess Dunedin from 17 February 1926. She died in 1944.

Philip de Lombos Laszlo painted numerous portraits of royalty, including The Queen Mother. He married Lucy Madeleine Guinness, the great-great-great niece of Arthur Guinness, founder of the eponymous brewery.
