About MeThis is an "Order of Osmanieh Grand Officer" breast badge, Second Class. Shaped as an eight-pointed star, it is made of silver and gold, decorated with marcasite. The badge has a circular centre filled with green enamel that encloses a smaller centre filled with red enamel. Within the red enamel ground is an OttomanTurkish inscription reading [Abdülaziz Khan Turkish Emperor Having Faith in The Lord], semi-circled by a raised crescent. On the reverse, the badge is engraved with a circular Ottoman Turkish mark reading the words "Darphane-i Amire", which is the name of the National Mint in Istanbul. This mark is enclosed between a crescent and a star. Just above the mint mark is a smaller mark, which is a hallmark occasionally found on Ottoman orders. This smaller mark is merely a circular cartouche with the word "Sah" (Pure). Attached to the reverse of the badge is an intact pin and two sash suspensions.

The 'Order of Osmanieh' was created in January 1862 by Sultan Abdülaziz. It was awarded to Ottoman civil servants and military leaders for outstanding services to the state. In 1893, when Brigader Frost Pasha was awarded this badge, the Order was divided into 5 classes that were restricted to a specific number of recipients. The Second Class distinction was conferred upon 200 members only.
