About MeThis painting represents Scottish village life. The church in the background was the spiritual centre of the village. The well, on the other hand, was the focus for discussing the gossip and trivialities of everyday life.

Hugh Cameron, was a prominent member of the Scott Lauder group. Robert Scott Lauder's influence on his pupil can been seen in the balance and draughtsmanship of the painting and in the layers of translucent colour used to achieve freshness and vitality.
