About MeThis circular token is inscribed on one side only with the name of the church, the minister's initials, and the date: Tarves / M/ GA / 1692. Although Scottish communion tokens are known from as early as the 16th century surviving examples dated earlier than 1700 are uncommon.

The initials on the token are those of George Anderson from Methlick who was later to become Professor of Divinity at King's College, Aberdeen. A century later, when The Rev. Thomas Mitchell wrote his entry for the Statistical Account of Scotland, he described Tarves Church as "very old and ruinous".
