About MeA square token with a raised border. Side 1 is inscribed Old 1820 Abd. While Side 2 (illustrated) depicts two communion chalices (cups) and communion bread on a plate.

The parish church of Old Machar, better known as St Machar's Cathedral, is situated in Old Aberdeen and was formerly the cathedral church of the Diocese of Aberdeen.

The church which survives today (and which issued the communion token) is the nave or westernmost part of the medieval cathedral now furnished with its distinctive twin spires. The eastern most section (crossing and choir) became ruinous in the 17th century.
