About MeJohn Duncan was the son of a baker burgess, a respectable middle-class profession. After following the same career as his father, he went on to become Provost of Aberdeen.

A series of five portraits of the Duncan family were given to the council in the 1960s; two represent the Provost, whilst the other three are of his wife and parents.
