About MePatrick Park was apprenticed to a builder at the age of fourteen and worked for a time at Hamilton Palace in Lanarkshire as a stone carver. Later he studied in Rome under the Neo-Classical sculptor Thorvaldsen, to whom he gained an introduction from the Duke of Hamilton. Park executed many busts and other subjects, among them a colossal statue of William Wallace.

The sitter, Eliza Home Lizars, was the daughter of Alexander Jardine Lizars MD FRCS, Profesor of Anatomy at the University of Aberdeen.
