About MeThis pleated wedding blouse was worn with a hand-sewn dress made by the mother of the bride, from a pattern found in a magazine. The blouse was bought at Harrods, in London, in the 1960s. The ceremony took place in 1978 at Haddo House in Aberdeenshire.In the 1970s Britain was in an economic depression and wedding dresses were often hand-made from patterns found in magazines. The general acceptance that clothes should express the personality of the wearer, which had affirmed itself at the beginning of the decade, remained. Traditionally, the pinafore was a type of apron. Eventually, it became a sleeveless dress, usually worn with something underneath like a blouse, a turtleneck, or a long-sleeved top.
