About MeRomantic-style wedding dresses of the 1950s, like this one, tended to be conservative in design, with a fitted bodice and long, full skirts. Trains became shorter than in previous decades and the use of brocade fabric was popular.

The 1950s and 60s were decades of growth and expansion and although most brides started to use wedding dresses just for their wedding, some still chose to alter them slightly so that they could be used as an evening dress later on.

This satin brocade and lace dress started life as a wedding dress, and was later remodelled by the bride to become an evening dress.
