About MeThis dress was worn by an Aberdeen bride at her wedding at the Spey Bay Hotel in 1937. It was made by one of the bride's friends, as a wedding present.
During the decade of the 1930s, the younger generations became influenced by the cinema. Wedding dresses were either romantic, influenced by the historical styles featured in the movies, or plainer, evening dress styles with intricate bias cuts. From 1937 onwards, the 'sweetheart' neckline, as featured on this dress, gained popularity, a trend that would continue for the next ten years or so.
