About MeCopies of three letters between the Royal Society of Painters and Etchers and James McBey, typewritten on one sheet. The first, dated 9 November 1911, is from the Honorary Secretary J. F. Badeley and gives McBey details regarding how to apply to be an elected member of the Society.

The second, dated 4 December 1911, is from McBey, explaining that three etchings, Omval, Runsdorp and View in Wales, and the drypoint Picador Incites the Bull, were enclosed. He intended for these to be used to support his application to become an elected member of the Society.

The third, dated 9 December 1911, is from the Secretary W. Gordon, and explains that after a meeting of the Council McBey had not been elected. The Secretary then offers to arrange the return of his work.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
