About MeSusie Cooper started work as a paintress at the Stoke-on-Trent company of A.E. Gray & Co. in 1922. Although Grays produced stylish modern designs, she was not content to remain with the firm as she wanted to have full control of the design process – both shape and surface pattern. She left in 1929 to establish the Susie Cooper Pottery – at that time a bold move for a woman. In 1950 she began to design and manufacture bone china, establishing a new business entitled Susie Cooper China Ltd. In 1958 this company merged with RH and SL Plant and in 1966 both companies were acquired by the Wedgwood Group. There are no works to discover for this record.
