About MeBest known for his stunning snowscapes, Joseph Farquharson devoted much of his later career to painting the garden of his estate at Finzean. With a backdrop of the magnificent scenery of Deeside, the neat borders and distinctive rose-laden pergolas are shown to great effect.

This painting dates from some time after 1919, when the trees on Easter Clune Wood on the far side of the river Feugh were felled to pay the death duties due following the death of Joseph's elder brother Archibald.

More About Me

Better known for snowscapes, Farquharson devoted much of his later career painting the garden of his Finzean (pronounced "Fingin") estate in Aberdeenshire.
