About MeBorn in 1942, Walter (Wally) Keeler produces mainly domestic and functional wares in salt-glazed stoneware. He studied at Harrow School of Art, later teaching there. His wares have been influenced by 18th century Staffordshire moulded forms, old fashioned milk churns and oil cans. This jug has been cut from a thrown cylinder pasted at an angle on to a flat base with a simple extruded handle and flamboyant spout. Salt-glazed in a blue glaze giving texture and an element of unpredictability.More About Me
This piece has the look of an old-fashioned metal jug, but the texture goes well beyond this. Does it achieve the artist's desire to "…bring with it seriousness, some humour and sensual pleasure"?
