19/04/1847:
North Shields April 12.-The schooner ELIZA, of Aberdeen, which sailed hence, took fire at sea during the gale of Thursday, and was abandoned by the crew, who were exposed for sixteen hours to the tempestious weather in an open boat. One of them named Simms, died in the boat from exhaustion.
