About MeMarget Husband trained at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary between 1915 and1918, just before the introduction of the Nurses’ Registration (Scotland) Act in 1919. She then held the post of Night Superintendent at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary from 1918 to 1923 before becoming Assistant Matron at Cardiff Royal Infirmary (1924-1926) and Matron at Royal Gwent Hospital (1926-1932). In 1933 she was appointed Matron of Glasgow Royal Infirmary. She retired from nursing in 1947.


Marget Husband was awarded the Royal Red Cross (First Class) for her services to nursing. It was presented to her by George VI at an investiture at Buckingham Palace in 1943. The Royal Red Cross was instituted in 1883 by Queen Victoria and is the highest award a nurse can receive, except for bravery. Husband was Principal Matron of the Territorial Army Service from 1933 to 1950 with the rank of lieutenant-colonel.
