Emeli Sandé

Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, born 1987
About MeEmeli Sandé took the music industry by storm when she launched her debut album in 2012, selling over one-million copies to become the UK’s best-selling album of the year. Emeli was brought up in Alford in Aberdeenshire and wrote her first song Tomorrow Starts Again at the age of 11 for a primary-school show. Although her musical talent was obvious from a young age, she studied medicine at the University of Glasgow, and having obtained a degree in neuroscience began to pursue a career in music.

In 2009 she came to the fore featuring on singles alongside rappers Chipmunk and Wiley. Now an internationally acclaimed award-winning artist, Emeli has had the unique honour of performing at both the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
