Gavin Greig
Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, 1856 - 1914
Born in Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, Gavin attended the University of Aberdeen. He wrote a weekly column in the local Buchan Observer called ‘Ballad Corner’ where he championed the songs and singers of the North-East. This passion for folksong led Gavin to team up with James Bruce Duncan, and together they set out to document the musical traditions of North-East Scotland.
