About MeWilliam Lee was born in Korea in 1974 and from earliest years has been fascinated by the process of making, influenced by his father's engineering career. He studied metalworking techniques with Jang Woo Won, a master of copper and silver smithing and was encouraged to come to the UK to pursue his studies further. He came to Britain in 1997 and after a course at Exeter College of Arts enrolled at Camberwell College, graduating BA (Hons) in silver and metal in 2004.Lee's current preoccupation is with emulating the fluidity of water in metal, expressing the energy and power of the piece through his skilled raising and hammering of sheet metal. He prefers to work with large-scale objects and looks to traditional Korean metal and ceramic design forms.
