About MeAlthough born south of the border, Jennifer McRae has lived most of her life in Scotland. She is both a graduate of, and part time lecturer at, Grays School of Art in Aberdeen.

McRae often approaches people with interesting looks to ask them to model for her and this was how she first met Lawless in a Glasgow bar. The portrait is a very strong image, with an intensity which is entirely deliberate on the part of the artist. McRae has said of this painting;
'I wanted to display Rosalind....as if she is laid bare to scrutiny. Thus she displays both strength and vulnerability to the viewer. Through the detail I hope to show a specimen of our time...a contemporary human being.'
More About Me

The intensity of the colour and pattern of the shirt worn by the sitter is almost overwhelming in contrast to their pale complexion and the black background.
